Luxembourg Festival 2011
In October and November 2011 the Luxembourg Festival invites you to some 30 top-class productions: Opera – the premiere performance of Der Turm by Claude Lenners after Peter Weiss (OPL), Cavalli’s La Didone (William Christie / Les Arts Florissants), Purcell’s The Fairy Queen (New London Consort / Philip Pickett). Music theatre (for the first time with the participation of the Théâtre des Capucins) – a Mahler tribute with Manou Walesch. Dance – Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, the Balé da Cidade de São Paulo, Ohad Naharin’s «Deca Dance» with the Batsheva Dance Company and two productions by Blanca Li («Le jardin des délices» after Hieronymus Bosch, «Elektro Kif» with electronic club sounds). Orchestra – Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra with Daniel Harding and Lang Lang, London Philharmonic Orchestra with Vladimir Jurowski and Julia Fischer, London Symphony Orchestra with Valery Gergiev, The Cleveland Orchestra with Franz Welser-Möst, Kammerorchester Basel with Giovanni Antonini and Emmanuel Pahud, OPL with Emmanuel Krivine and Ian Bostridge, and Peter Rundel in the second concert. Chamber music and recitals – Anne Sofie von Otter / Daniel Hope, the Takács Quartet, Christian Gerhaher (with the author Martin Walser) and Magdalena Kožená. World music and jazz – Souad Massi, the Tomasz Stańko Quintet, the Maria Schneider Orchestra, Cristina Branco, Zaz, Anoushka Shankar, Joshua Redman / Brad Mehldau Duo. Advance sales begin on 27th April 2011 (Grand Théâtre) / 7th July 2011 (Philharmonie).
